(Note – this was originally marked as a Kinston ZX, as described by the previous owner. I now believe this is a Kingston Z5, with fully replaced electronics.)
This 5 string bass with wide string spacing and upgraded electronics sounds amazing. I’m asking for $750. It’s a 35″ scale bass with wide 19mm string spacing at the bridge, perfect for slappers or players who like a little extra room. I’m selling because I have small hands and prefer tighter string spacing, so the ergonomics are wrong for me. They might be perfect for you! Send me an email at contact@scottnelle.com or a message on Facebook if you’re interested.
This is the best sounding bass I’ve ever played. The previous owner had the stock pickups replaced with Nordstrand Big Split Humbuckers, which Nordstrand describes as “jazz pickups on steroids.” The previous owner also had a Bartolini NTMB+F preamp installed, which includes a push/pull pot to let you adjust the mid frequency from 250 Hz to 800 Hz. The combination sounds incredible and is very versatile. I’m already budgeting to put the same setup in one of my other basses. The original wood-covered pickups, marked G&B Pickup Co., will be included as well, in case you want to try them out.
The long scale makes the B string sound and feel great. It’s tight and focused. A longer scale allows for higher tension, to make the B string feel more like the other strings, which improves playability.
The bass will come with a new set of medium weight DR Hi-Beams installed, and is set up for low action.
As I mentioned the ergonomics are wrong for me. All my other basses are Ibanez Soundgears and this is like the opposite of an Ibanez Soundgear. It’s not bad, it’s just too different from my personal preference.

Imperfections
There are a few dings along the G string side of the headstock and body. It looks like it was dropped once by the previous owner. They don’t affect playability, and they don’t affect the stability of the instrument. Click the photos below for larger views of the dings.
